Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but vulnerable characters, is one of the most acclaimed American actors of our times. Her father was an acclaimed playwright. However, Linney was raised as a single child by a single mom, a nurse. During the summers and with her father, Linney developed a passion for theater. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Starting her acting career on the Broadway following her graduation, she debuted on film in just two years and on television within a year. Since then she has been involved in numerous films, television productions and stage shows. She has been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her professional career. In spite of numerous awards the theatre is still her passion first and foremost. She continues to perform both in stage and screen.
